Hello Friends!
We are less than a month to Mardi Gras Day! Maybe, like me, you made some new year's resolutions. How are those new habits going?
Church Alley Nutrition and Habits Coaching launched two years ago this coming July. As a veggie forward mission driven business for the past 12 years, nutrition kind of fell into our laps as we spent day after day chatting with our regulars. Now that the Cafe is closed and we move forward with our Church Alley Pantry line, the Coaching sessions continue to give us new ways to spend time with our community.
There are a few ways to learn more about our one on one coaching:

So what does a former cafe owner know about nutrition?
When the pandemic hit and the shop drastically downsized, I did two things. I decided to finally go back to school to become a Registered Dietitian and I bulked most of our ingredients to create a Pantry Line. In Fall of 2024 I decided that it was time to focus more on these two ventures and close the brick and mortar cafe. I will start graduate school this June 2025 at Tulane University's Master's in Public Health in Nutrition program. I also took a part-time Project Management job researching how restaurants contribute to the reduction of chronic disease in New Orleans in the same Tulane department I will begin my graduate studies. Maybe this sounds a little further than the Church Alley Cafe you know, but this next chapter came directly out of so many conversations I had while serving customers. To me, this is the exact next step for Church Alley.
Additionally, I have struggled with multiple autoimmune diseases that led me to change my diet and lifestyle and expand Church Alley's food menu to be mostly gluten and dairy free. I often had customers say this was one of the only cafe's in town they could enjoy the food with little to no digestion issues and autoimmune reaction. I agree! That's why I created the menu as it was.
I hope you will follow along with us as we move forward in this new approach to Church Alley.
Happy Carnival!
